Section I Activity 2: Brainstorming Techniques 

Section I, Activity 2 has six steps. Follow the numbered steps to complete the activity.

Step 1: List as many techniques used in your classroom as you can in ten minutes.

Step 2: Consider your list, deciding if each technique is holistic (h) or skills-based (sb). Label each technique.

Step 3: Read the following documents:

Step 4: After reading the documents, review the labels on your list.

Step 5: Consider the following questions:

  1. Did you label each technique correctly? Why or Why not?
  2. Why is a technique labeled as either holistic or skills-based?
  3. Could the technique be used for a different approach? How?
Step 6: Each participant will write a paragraph addressing one or more of the questions posed in Step 5. The paragraph should use information from the readings to support points. Submit the essay to the facilitator using the form below.
